Captain’s Log: Earth Date 10 July 2016

6201Yesterday (Sunday), was the first day of Bio Boot Camp 2.0. Our first activity of the day was a hike at the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve. Despite its name there was nothing cold about it! Allie talked to us about its recent fire and its effect on the reserve. At the reserve we found several California Pipevine Swallowtails, which are uncommon on the west coast. Then we headed to the Quail Ridge Reserve where we would be spending the night. We took several hikes, some during the day, some during the night. On those hikes we found Scorpions, Bats, Camel Spiders, and a couple people ate Carpenter Ants. We went to bed excited for the next day.
